Hop on the free ferry from Galveston and head over to the Bolivar Peninsula for some free primitive beach camping. The sand is hard packed enough for 2WD but can get soft in areas, so be cautious. When coming down Rettilon Road, anywhere left of the sign up until the wash is fair game while everything to the right of the sign requires a beach permit that you can pick up for 10 bucks in town and it’s good for the year. There’s also a portapotty and trash cans so keep it clean!
