“Wild camping” is hard to find in Florida. Especially for free. The main difference between camping in Florida’s WMAs (Water/Wildlife Management Areas) and other states’ BLM areas is that WMAs require a free reservation (called a Special Use License). Unfortunately they’re not very spur of the moment since you often have to wait for an email permit (could be a day or two) but they’re still a popular alternative to the ever popular Walmarts of Florida.
That being said, DuPuis has an equestrian campground that’s accessible to RVs of all sizes and gets pretty filled up. We arrived on a Friday and the place was like an RV Park. They do have showers, bathrooms and dumpsters but keep in mind that alcohol is not permitted (boo). Really nice grounds and plenty of space but make sure to check the website for hunting season dates where the WMA is closed to the public.
