Going north on the I-5, Gee Creek Rest Area is a surprisingly lovely spot. Sure, it’s a rest area but it’s got lots of trees, clean washrooms, vending machines and plenty of free tourist information about Washington State. The sign asks you to limit your stay to 8 hours, but we had no issues staying 10-12 hrs. Along with the southbound area, this spot is very convenient with easy access to Vancouver (WA) and Portland. Plenty of room for lots of vehicles and even large RVs but it does get quite busy. We preferred this rest area over the southbound counterpart because there were some small walking trails around that made you feel like you weren’t just hanging out beside the highway.
