Free beachside camping in Manitoba?! Sign me up. The drive through farm fields will make you hesitant that this even exists, but eventually the road opens up to a nice sandy beach and a great lake for swimming. Lake Manitoba is the 30th biggest freshwater lake in Canada and 33rd biggest in the world (just in case that ever comes up in a game of trivia). There is an outhouse and lots of recycling bins (no trash bins that we saw so pack it in, pack it out) and plenty of space to make your own dispersed campsite. There are rocks separating the beach from where you park so you can just step out and walk to the water. We spoke to a local who said they’ve worked very hard as a community to clean up the beach after a flood so it’s a nicely cared for spot that’s definitely worth checking out. We walked out over 100 feet and the water was still up to our knees so it’s an awesome place to just cool off and relax. Suitable for any size rig or tent and there is no designated max stay so just use your judgement – we stayed for 3 nights over Canada Day weekend and it was great. Be aware that there are A LOT of tiny bugs and the outhouses could use a good power wash but it’s an amazing beach spot nonetheless. The sky is so big that the sunsets are beautiful and make it feel more like Florida than Manitoba. Only an hour east of Neepawa and 2 hours northwest of Winnipeg.
